Advocacy
Our Advocacy program engages our passionate NYC Bird Alliance community to fight for the City's birds.
In 1978, a cadre of Central Park birders successfully opposed a plan to “restore” the Ramble through changes such as tree removal. These fledgling activists soon founded NYC Bird Alliance – and launched over 40 years of dedicated advocacy for habitat preservation and wild bird conservation. Help us continue to advocate for bird-friendly legislation across the five boroughs:

The Jacob K. Javits Center green roof is the city's largest and provides habitat for over 50 bird species. With increased tax incentives for buildings to create green roofs, NYC Bird Alliance hopes to increase their installations throughout the City. Photo: NYC Bird Alliance
