NYC Bird Alliance is thrilled to return as a Bronze Level Charity for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon. For the second year, we are sponsoring three runners to compete for Team Greater Yellowlegs and fundraise for NYC Bird Alliance, supporting our conservation work throughout the five boroughs.
MEET OUR RUNNERS

Eric Balcanoff
Eric has been a bird-lover his whole life, having volunteered with Wild Bird Fund, photographing the birds of Central Park (including the beloved Barry the Barred Owl!), running the bird Instagram @birbsofnewyork, and now raising money for NYC Bird Alliance.
"Feed two birds with one scone (no, we’re not using that other analogy here) – make a positive impact on NYC’s bird populations AND support my first ever marathon."

Andrea Fondulas
NYC Bird Alliance was Andrea's gateway into the magical world of birding. In Spring 2023, she joined her first bird outing—and life was never the same!
"I can’t wait to run through the city that I love and call home—the very place where I learned the flight calls, migration patterns, and hyper-nuanced plumage designs to ID dozens of species."

Michael Hainey
Returning for his second year on Team Greater Yellowlegs, Michael is back to support the New York residents who bring so much beauty, joy, and serenity to all of us: birds.
"You might think bird-watching in New York consists of spotting pizza-eating pigeons. But if you pause and listen and watch, you discover the variety of birds here is so much richer."
