WHY BIRDS MATTER

Protecting birds is critical to a healthy ecosystem. Birds protect and grow forests, grasslands, and marshes, leading to increased carbon capture and a more climate-resilient future.

Over a billion birds die each year in collisions with glass in the United States (up to a quarter million in New York City alone) due to artificial light at night and reflective glass. But there are easy solutions to make your building safe for birds, reduce energy needs, and improve tenant satisfaction.

YOU CAN BE PART OF A BIRD-SAFE SOLUTION

NYC Bird Alliance is dedicated to providing safe passage for the millions of wild birds migrating through our city each year. We will help create a targeted approach for your building:

  • Identify the high-risk areas that can have the greatest impact.
  • Consult on window treatments to make your glass visible to birds and reduce collisions.
  • Advise on smart lighting strategies that reduce non-essential lights at night, lowering collisions and saving you energy and cost
